Gongoni Secondary School is a public day mixed secondary school founded in 2011. Its full registration number PU/S/2/9523/13.

Originally, it started in the neighboring Gongoni Primary School, in a classroom which had been donated by Bamburi Cement to the primary school. On realizing that the classroom had been used to start a secondary school, Bamburi Cement offered to build two classrooms for the secondary school on the compound which had been set aside for that purpose.

The community donated six acres of land about 1km away. Two classrooms and a toilet blocks were built. Representatives of the community approached Bahari Consttituency CDF for assistance.

The CDF donated two classrooms. In 2013, the school moved to its own compound. In the same year an organisation, Nuru Africa, under the Methodist Church of Kenya, also donated two classrooms. And in 2016, The Kenya Charity Sweepstake helped to create another classroom.

There are seven classrooms altogether. As at February 2018 the enrolment has risen to 180.

Beginning with one TSC teacher in 2013, today there are four and the BOM has employed four others. The approved CBE is 11 teachers. The has presented candidates at KCSE level since 2014.

Enrolment continues to improve with time. The school has a functional BOARD OF MANAGEMENT and an elected parents association.

Under the School Infrastructure Development Plan (SIDP) rolled out by the Kenya Government, the school built a scince laboratory.

The parents run a lunch program in the school to enable the students to remain in school whole day.

The school participates in various outdoor activities. It is the lead school in Presidents Award Kenya within Kilifi County.

The school motto is printed in the heart of every member of the school; teachers, students and non-teaching staff alike. Whenever anyone is assigned a task to accomplish, it is done meticulously. The fear to lose is the greatest motivator
